FOG #198 Moses Mbye | Origin Dream, 250+ Games & The Journey From Noosa to the NRL
Moses Mbye is FOG #198 — a Brisbane-born, Sunshine Coast-raised playmaker whose rugby league journey took him from the Noosa Pirates to more than 250 professional games across the NRL and Super League.
A versatile back who played across the halves, fullback, centre and hooker, Moses built a career defined by adaptability, resilience and professionalism. After making his way to Sydney as a teenager, he broke into the NRL with the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs, playing in the 2014 Grand Final in his debut season.
Across his career, Moses represented the Bulldogs, Wests Tigers and St George Illawarra Dragons in the NRL, before spending three successful seasons with St Helens in the English Super League. At representative level, he earned selection for Queensland in State of Origin (2019), achieving the dream he’d chased since childhood.
In this episode of the FOGS Queenslander Podcast, Moses reflects on growing up on the Sunshine Coast, the leap to Sydney as a teenager, his rapid rise through the Bulldogs system, the reality of playing in an NRL grand final early in his career, and the emotional journey to becoming a Queensland Origin player.
He also opens up on leadership at the Tigers, a frightening on-tour medical episode, his time in England, and life after the NRL as he returns to Queensland Cup with the Ipswich Jets.
A proud Queenslander whose journey is built on persistence, perspective and passion for the game.
