Ep 42 Kevin Campion

Former Origin Greats Queensland Season 2 Episode 16

Welcome to the FOGS Queenslander Podcast Episode 42!
Featuring FOG #121 Kevin Campion
Hosted by Mark Braybrook

In this episode, Kevin Campion joins Mark Braybrook to reflect on a rugged and remarkable rugby league journey that took him across six clubs, two representative jerseys, and one of the toughest forward careers of his era.

Born in Sarina, Queensland, Campion was a hard-nosed forward who brought grit and leadership to every team he played for — including stints with the Gold Coast Seagulls, St George, Adelaide Rams, Brisbane Broncos, New Zealand Warriors, and North Queensland Cowboys.

He played over 240 top-grade games, appeared in four State of Origin matches for Queensland, and even represented Ireland at the 2000 Rugby League World Cup.

In this episode, Kevin shares:

• Stories from premiership success with the Broncos
• His leadership role in the Warriors’ rise to the 2002 Grand Final
• What Origin meant to him and how it compares to club footy
• The toughness required to survive over a decade in the NRL
• His reflections on loyalty, team culture, and life after footy

This is an episode full of honesty, resilience, and the kind of stories only a player like Campion can tell.
