Born in Sarina, Queensland, Campion was a hard-nosed forward who brought grit and leadership to every team he played for — including stints with the Gold Coast Seagulls, St George, Adelaide Rams, Brisbane Broncos, New Zealand Warriors, and North Queensland Cowboys.
He played over 240 top-grade games, appeared in four State of Origin matches for Queensland, and even represented Ireland at the 2000 Rugby League World Cup.
