Ep 33 David Stagg
Welcome to the FOGS Queenslander Podcast Episode 33!
In this episode, our host Mark Braybrook is joined by FOG #154 David Stagg, a hardworking and versatile forward who left his mark on the NRL through his dedication, consistency, and defensive prowess.
Born in Townsville, Queensland, David played over 200 first-grade games for the Brisbane Broncos and Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs, earning a reputation as one of the game’s hardest workers. His tireless effort and defensive resilience were instrumental in Brisbane’s 2006 NRL Premiership victory, and he remained a key figure throughout his career.
Though best known as a lock and second-rower, David’s adaptability saw him play across multiple positions, including centre and five-eighth. His reliability earned him a State of Origin call-up for Queensland in 2006, a proud moment in his career.
In this episode, David reflects on his time in the NRL, the highs of winning a Premiership, and what it was like to represent the Maroons in Origin football.
